About: Dave McClure has been geeking out in Silicon Valley for over fifteen years as a software developer, entrepreneur, startup advisor, angel investor, and internet marketing nerd. He is currently an advisor or investor for TeachStreet, AppFuel, Mint Software, Spock Networks, Mashery, Simply Hired, HealthUnity, and Canopy Financial. Dave is also a board member for microfinance accelerator Unitus, and advisor to non-profit Kiva.org, and leads user groups and conferences on technology, entrepreneurship, venture capital, & microfinance.

Back in the Mesozoic era, Dave ran marketing for Simply Hired, founded & ran the PayPal Developer Network, and was founder/CEO of Aslan Computing (acquired by Servinet/Panurgy). Before that, Dave was a rather mediocre programmer & database guy. Before that, he was a modestly overachieving trilobite.

Before coming to Silicon Valley, Dave barely graduated from the Johns Hopkins University with a BS in Mathematical Sciences Engineering and a minor in frisbee, billiards, & foosball. His interests include microfinance and economic innovation, entrepreneurship and venture capital, ultimate frisbee, cartoons and animation, and an ever-growing collection of funny-looking hats.
